Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQs)

Below are a few commonly asked questions. Please feel free to contact us if you would like any additional information. We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you personally.

Why do I need a Personal Injury Attorney?
Attorneys have received years of intensive study in law and its application to the facts of your claim for personal injury. Often times, insurance companies or self-insured defendants will attempt to take advantage of the inexperience of laypeople in the fair adjustment and settlement of claims. This can result in the loss of valuable legal rights and money damages to which you are entitled. At MALLARD LAW FIRM, our attorneys have not only excelled in their law school curriculum, they have over thirty years of combined years of experience in working for and against the insurance carriers and self-insured defendants upon which to draw in assisting you with obtaining a fair settlement or verdict in your case.

What factors should I consider in hiring an Attorney?
This is a very important question. You should ask the attorney about their academic background, experience in handling cases like the one you visit them about, whether they will take your case to trial if necessary, whether they have experience in trying cases, whether they know the local judges and attorneys in the city where your case will be filed as that fact alone can significantly effect the settlement or judgment they can obtain in your case, and, last, whether after meeting the attorney they seem to be they type of person who will respond to your needs for competent and professional legal advice and services.

How does Mallard Law Firm get paid?
Simply stated, only if we win a settlement or judgment for you. At MALLARD LAW FIRM, we handle all cases on a contingent fee basis. This means that our fees come from a percentage of the gross total settlement or judgment obtained for you along with reimbursement of the actual expenses we advance for you and put into your case. If we are unsuccessful in obtaining a settlement or judgment for you, then you do not owe us anything for our time or the expenses we incur.

How long will my case take to prosecute?
There is no simple answer to this question. Some cases resolve quickly, in a matter of months, while others can go on for several years. The time frame is generally much shorter for simpler cases with one or two defendants and longer for more complex cases with multiple defendants and issues to litigate and resolve. Ask our attorneys as to their best estimate for the time your specific case will take to prosecute.

Will I be able to speak to the Attorney handling my case if I have questions?
YES. Unlike some firms who have "case managers" or "paralegals" who correspond and/or speak to you almost exclusively during the pendency of your claim, at MALLARD LAW FIRM our attorneys will answer your questions and return your calls either immediately or as soon as possible after receiving a message from you. We consider this a personal service that we can offer that many other firms cannot or will not. Of course, there are many times when our support staff can answer a simple question for you. However, if you would like to discuss any issue involved in your case with our attorneys they will always be available to you.
